A clockwork orange says Rated R, but I thought all the DVDs were uncut. Is the DVD the uncut version?

As of today, A Clockwork Orange should still be rated "NC-17" (which is today's version of the "X" rating). I don't know why it's rated R. In my experience, usually if a movie is uncut, it will say so on the DVD case...
