With AWD, if you have an unfixable flat, you often have to buy 4 new tires if the other 3 are not nearly new. This is because one tire with a different tread depth is hard on the differential. Therefore, is it a correct conclusion that unless you have special requirements, you should avoid the headache of AWD? Or do you just ignore the tire tread depth difference and say "hell with it, I'm putting only one new tire".
